ADAMS, Clarissa J. (1863 - 1940)

Clarsie J. AdamsDead - Mrs. Clarsie J. Adams died at her home in Adrian, Tuesday night, January 2, 1940. Mrs. Adams had been ill for several weeks. Her age at the time of death was 70 years, 9 months and 2 days. Clarsie J., daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Cope, was born in Jerseyville, Illinois, March 30,1863. In her early childhood she moved with her parents to Missouri and located in northeast Bates county, where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to Thomas B. Highley, December 18, 1879 at Altona, Missouri. To this union three sons were born; Alvie Highley, Langley, Okla.; Paul Highley, Grainfield, Kansas and Ralph Highley, Kansas City, Missouri. Besides the children she is survived by two sisters; Mrs. Emma Reeder, Adrian; Mrs. Rose Hughes, Phoenix, Arizona, and four brothers; Milton Cope, Blackwell, Okla.; George and J. A. Cope of Lexington, Mo. In 1905 Mrs. Highley entered into a second marriage with J. H. Adams. There were no children by the second marriage.
Mrs. Adams spent most of her life in the Altona community, where she was respected and acknowledged as a true Christian lady and a kind and friendly neighbor. She was a member of the Christian church at Altona. Funeral services for Mrs. Adams will be held this (Thursday) afternoon, at 2:00 o’clock, from the Adrian Christian church. Elder C. E. Callison will have charge of the services. Interment will be in the Altona cemetery by the Creath & Six funeral service.

ADAMS, Jean Carroll (1932 - 2009)

Jean Carroll Adams, May 8, 1932 - January 7, 2009. Jean Carroll Adams, 76, Adrian, MO, died Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the Atkinson Chapel in Adrian. Burial will be in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian. Friends may call 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, January 12 at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc., P.O. Box 631047, Baltimore, MD 21263-1047.

ADAMS, Justin R. (1981 - 2007)

Justin R. Adams, 26 of Nevada, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at his home in Nevada. He was born March 22, 1981, in Nevada, to Laurence Edward Adams and Kathi Diane Fleener Adams. Justin grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School in 2000. He had lived most of his life in Nevada and also did custom stereo installation. Survivors include his parents, Larry and Kathi Adams, of Nevada; one sister, Dawn Best, of Nevada; grandparents, Ivan and Barbara Digins, of Sheldon; his fiance, Carrie Adams, and her two sons Keller and Gavin Adams, and numerous nieces nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Rosella Adams, and his grandfather, Forest Fleener. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. A private committal service will be held at a later date at Olive Branch Cemetery, in Milo.

ADAMS, Nettie E. (1917 - 2004)

Nettie E. Adams, 87, Adrian, formerly of the Austin Community near Archie, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at Adrian Manor Nursing home.
Services were Wednesday, Nov. 24, at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville. Burial will be in the Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice. A complete obituary will be published in next week’s Democrat Missourian.

ADAMS, Nettie Eunice (1917 - 2004)

Nettie Eunice Adams, 87, Adrian, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at the Adrian Manor Nursing Home, Adrian. She was born March 19, 1917, near Shawnee Mound in Henry County, the daughter of Meredith and Jessie. Jan. 29, 1939, she married Joe E. Adams in Independence. Mrs. Adams was a homemaker and an Avon representative for many years. In 1946, She, Joe and their three boys moved to a farm in the Austin community near Archie and farmed there for 52 years. She loved to cook for her family and friends. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Shawnee Mound. For the past five years, Mrs. Adams had been a resident of Adrian Manor and the family thanks the caring people at Adrian Manor for their help. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Joe E. Adams, Aug. 28, 1999; three brothers, Owen, Joe and John; and two sisters, Emma and Maude. Surviving are three sons, Larry Joe Adams and wife, Mary Lou, Mountain View, Ark., John Adams and wife, Marquita, Harrisonville; and Ron Adams and wife, Patricia, Wheaton, Ill; a sister, Daisy, Leeton; a sister-in-law, Ruth, Havelock, Iowa; six grandchildren, Christy, Tim, Terry, Tom, Patrick and Jon; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jonathan Adams, Patrick Adams, Terry Adams, Tim Adams, Tom Adams and Christy Thompson. Services were Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, with the Rev. Joe Crook officiating. Burial was in the Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
