CAMPBELL, Violet P. (1919 - 2006)

Violet P. Campbell, 86, of Nevada passed away on Aug. 15, 2006, at Moore-Few
Care Center in Nevada after several months of failing health. She was born on
Oct. 28, 1919, at Liberal, Mo., to Timothy Keller Adams and Flora Ziegler Adams.
Violet grew up in the rural Liberal and Bronaugh areas with her five brothers
and two sisters and graduated from Bronaugh High School in 1937. On Nov. 28,
1940, she married Melvin G. Campbell at Bronaugh, Mo. They lived on farms in the
Bronaugh area until moving to Nevada in 1948, with their two small children.
Melvin died on Dec. 19, 1970. She was a stay-at-home mother until going to work
in 1957 as a receptionist at the Nevada Hospital and then in March 1958 at the
U.S. Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service office in Nevada where
she was employed for 21-1/2 years, retiring in November 1979. Violet was
baptized at the Bronaugh Methodist Church when she was a child. For many years
she has been a member of the The United Methodist Church in Nevada. From her
maternal side she was of American Indian heritage and was a tribal member of the
Citizen Pottawatomie Nation of Shawnee, Okla. After her retirement she
volunteered in community activities including working at the Red Cross
Bloodmobile and delivering Meals on Wheels. She also was very active in United
Methodist Women functions. Violet was preceded in death by her parents; her
husband; three brothers, Paul Ziegler Adams, Gilbert Orval Adams, and Clarence
Kermit Adams; and two sisters, Mary Eloise Adams and Alice Veva Twigg. She is
survived by her daughter, Rama Faye Hart, and husband, Jim; her son, M. Keith
Campbell, and wife, Karen; granddaughter, Michelle D. Swait; grandson, Dustin K.
Campbell, and wife, Amber; great-granddaughters, Brooke and Ashlyn Swait;
great-grandsons, Cayden and Morgan Campbell; a brother, Lewis Bourassa Adams,
all of Nevada; a brother, David Frank Adams, of Liberal, Mo.; a
step-great-grandson, Jeremy Swait, of Bartlesville, Okla.; several nieces and
nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews and many friends. Funeral services will
be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Aug. 19, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with
the Rev. Ralph Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park,
Nevada.
