ENSOR, Charles Edwin (1931 - 2003)

Charles Edwin Ensor, 71, died on Nov. 29, 2003. He was born on Sept. 1, 1931, near Appleton City, Mo., to George E. and Helen (Murphy) Ensor, who preceded him in death. He attended schools in the Appleton City area, and high school in Butler, Mo. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, stationed in Germany from 1953-1955. He worked for the Manor Bread Company after returning from the military and then drove for various trucking companies until 1989. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local No. 41. In 1955, he married Ruth Bassett. He became an auctioneer in the late 1950's calling commercial auctions and travelling to 18 states. He also called benefit auctions including the McGennis Youth Center barbeque auction until his health failed. He served 40 years as Parade Marshall for the Rich Hill Fourth of July parade. He coached little league baseball. He was a member of the Rich Hill American Legion Post No. 67, and the Masonic Lodge No. 254. Charles is survived by his wife Ruth; five children, Cheri Ensor, Raytown, Mo., Wendy Bradley, Butler, Mo., Scott Ensor, Peculiar, Mo., Marlene Pickering, Lebanon, Mo., and Valerie Kithcart, Rich Hill, Mo.; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a brother, Dale Ensor, Lexington, Mo.; sisters, Georgia Crist, Dot Crist, both of Butler, Mo.; four nephews, four nieces, and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Services were held at 10:30 a.m., at the Sheldon-Booth Chapel, with Bill Perkey officiating. Music was "Uncle Pen" and "I Saw the Light." Soloist was Donya Bridgewater who sang "In the Garden" and "Precious Memories." Casketbearers were Dean Crist, David Crist, Marty Ensor, Wade Ensor, Corey Ensor, Jeff Bradley, Cody Ensor and Sam Bradley. Honorary casketbearers were Gary Jennings, Don Steuk, Ken Boone, Jack Fenewald, F.C. "Toppy" Clark and Terry Clark. Military rites were performed by the American Legion Post No. 67, from Rich Hill, Mo. Interment was in the Green Lawn Cemetery, Rich Hill, Mo. Arrangements by Sheldon-Booth Funeral Home, Rich Hill, Mo. Donations to Friends of Green Lawn or American Legion Post No. 67 of Rich Hill, Mo., will be appreciated
