DIED FROM STRYCHNINE POISONING -  Modina, the two year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Pipes, died Sunday from strychnine poisoning. The child got a box of tablets in the morning and swallowed some of them. Later the parents went to Altona to spend the day with Mrs. Googe. Soon after their arrival at the Googe home the child became violently ill. Dr. Gerald Bates was called but when he arrived the poison had progressed so far that the antidotes given were of no avail and death came soon after the Doctor’s arrival. This unfortunate affair came as a great blow to the parents and the community as well, and the parents have the sympathy of their many friends in their hour of great grief. Funeral services for Modina were held Monday afternoon and the body laid to rest in the Altona cemetery.
