Parrish, a resident of Rich Hill the past twenty-five years, died at the home, First and Lashbrook streets, May 30, 1962. Mr. Parrish, a son of Plesant and Sarah Parrish, was born in Iowa January 22, 1886. He was 76 years, 4 months and 5 days of age. Surviving are two brothers, Allen Parrish, Kansas City and Charles Parrish, Onawa, Iowa. Funeral services were held Sunday, June 3, in the Booth Funeral Chapel. Burial was made in Green Lawn Cemetery.

She was a resident of Rich Hill for some fifty years. Surviving are the husband, of the home, and one son, Edgar Thompson, of Burbank, Calif., who was here at the bedside of his mother. Funeral services for Mrs. George Parish were held in the Booth Chapel, Walnut street Tuesday afternoon, January 15, 1946. Burial in Green Lawn cemetery.

Parker, Warrensburg, Mo., and Merlin L. Parker, 4012 Norton, and four sisters, Mrs. W. G. Barickman, Neosho, Mo.; Mrs. Laura Odneal, 611 West Forty-fourth; Mrs. Louella Sherman, Butler, Mo., and Mrs. Lily Knight, 7313 West Sixty-first, Merriam. services will be held Saturday at the Spruce Methodist church. Burial will be in Radford cemetery, Spruce.

PARKS, Vera Elizabeth CALLAHAN 1894-1969 St. Clair County Courier, Osceola, MO, Mar 1969 Funeral services were held at Consalus Funeral Home in Clinton March 5 for Vera Elizabeth Callahan Parks who died March 2 at Clinton General following an illness of four weeks. Service and burial was made in Wright's Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Parks, daughter of Thomas Jackson and Lula B. Smith Callahan was born July 2, 1894 in Bates County. She was married April 5, 1916 to Charlie Lee Parks. Seven children were born to the couple. She was preceded in death by two children and two sisters, Velma and Erma. She was a member of the Wright's Creek Baptist Church. Survivors are her husband; children, Mrs. Robert Monard, Montrose, Lauren Parks, Odessa, Mrs. Orville Gardner, Osceola, Mrs. D.W. He was born September 16, 1923 to Herschel Roy and Sarah Elizabeth Jones Barber in Springfield, Missouri. Phyllis is survived by her son, Mike Patterson and wife Sandy of Lee's Summit, Missouri; a daughter, Linda Fredrickson of Chillicothe, Missouri; six grandchildren, Doug Fredrickson and wife Dina, Kendra Fredrickson, James Fredrickson and wife Jenny, Michael Patterson and wife Yvonne, Ashley Patterson and Ali Patterson; and six great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Ariel, Kaylee, Zachary, Sidney and Josie. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Roy and Jim; and a sister Irene. Phyllis's wishes were to be cremated and remembered with fond memories. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

PAWLEY, Ronald Murle 1925-2007 Moore Cemetery, Nevada, Vernon Co, MO Nevada Daily Mail, Nevada, MO, Thursday, Nov 15 2007 Ronald Murle Pawley, 82, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at the Medicalodge of Pittsburg South, Pittsburg, Kan, following a lengthy illness. He was born April 6, 1925, in Moundville, Mo., to Jess Pawley and Cora Grooms Pawley. He married Irene Mae Hall on Dec. 16, 1955, in Nevada. She preceded him in death on Nov. 29, 2003. Ronald grew up on a farm near Moundville. He worked at the Convent in Nevada for a number of years and at the rendering plant near Horton for many years. Ronald also worked for many years as a custodian for Nevada R-5 Schools until his retirement. He has lived in Pittsburg since 2002. Survivors include two daughters, Gloria Pawley, Pittsburg, Kan., and Darlene Cloke, Nevada; one son, Gary Wayne Pawley, El Dorado Springs, Mo., five grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife Irene, he was preceded in death by two brothers Gilbert Pawley and Johnny Pawley, and one sister, Irene May Ellifritz. Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada.
PAYTON, Dortha Gertrude STONE 1927-2007 Moore Cemetery, Nevada, Vernon Co, MO Nevada Daily Mail, Nevada, MO, Tuesday, Jul 17 2007 Dortha Gertrude Payton, 79, Milo, Mo., died Saturday, July 14, 2007, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada. She was born Oct. 22, 1927, in Peculiar, Mo., to John Robert Stone and Susie Gertrude Meighern Stone. She was married April 16, 1949, in Osceola, Mo., to Edgar Earl Payton Sr. and he preceded her in death March, 1989. Mrs. Payton was reared in Vernon and Cedar County, Mo., and lived virtually her entire life in this area. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Nevada. She was a homemaker and did babysitting in her home for many years. She was a very devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a friend to all that knew her. Survivors include four sons, Earl Payton Jr. and his wife Lynn, Charleston, Ill., Tommy Payton and his wife Norma, Nevada, David Payton and his wife Margaret, Milo and George Payton, Wichita, Kan.; one daughter, Betty Slater and her husband, Danny, Polo, Mo.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Tim Stone and his wife Peggy, Joplin; three sisters, Bessie Bradley, Little Rock, Calif., Mickey Vandenberg and Pearl Kimzey, both of Nevada; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, four brothers, one sister and one grandson. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 18, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will follow at Moore Cemetery, Nevada.
PEARMAN, Edward L. 1898-1970 Altona Cemetery, Altona, Grand River Twp, Bates Co, MO Adrian Journal, Adrian, MO, Thursday, Mar 12 1970 Edward L. Pearman was born October 13, 1898 near Brunswick, Mo. He was the son of James W. Pearman and Mary Medcaff. He passed away February 28, 1970 at the Wetzel Hospital in Clinton, Mo. At the age of 71 years, 4 months and 15 days. Mr. Pearman was a salesman and owner of Lone Star Manufacturing Co., Altona, Missouri. He had lived at Altona for the last ten years. He is survived by one brother, James W. Pearman, Pico Rivera, Calif. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews living around Brunswick. Funeral services were held at the Atkinson-Dickey Funeral Home, March 4. Burial was in the Altona Cemetery.

Dobbs and Kristle Denise Pearson. Callie, Kristle and Cecil all died as a result of a car accident.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton with burial in Deepwater Cemetery, Deepwater, Mo. Clifford was born in Vernon County, Mo. He was an operating engineer for Local 101, Kansas City, Mo. He was a member of the Park Grove Christian Church, Lowry City, Mo., the Lowry City Masonic Lodge, the Kansas City Scottish Rite Bodies, the Ararat Shrine and the Order of Eastern Star in Harlingen, Texas. He served as mayor pro-tem for the City of Deepwater for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Vivian Barton Periman; five brothers, Glen, Gordon, Basil, Russell and Cecil; his first wife, Jessie Lea Periman, and two daughters, Vivian Branstetter and Jane Church Southers. He is survived by his wife, Leah, of the home; one daughter, Ginger Bailey of Clinton; one brother, Everett Periman of Nevada, Mo.; seven grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

PERRIN, Nancy Jane DEMPSEY 1860-1957 Mrs. Nancy Jane Perrin, 97, Brownington, Mo., died about 1:00 a.m., Sept 18, at her home there. Mrs. Perrin, always active and alert, had been blessed with excellent health, most of her life, and had never suffered illness of any consequence until recently. She had been in declining health since July, 1956, but had been about and especially enjoyed her birthday last February. For the past 14 years her son, John, had resided with her and devotedly looked after her welfare. Funeral services will be held Sept 19, at the Brownington Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery. Nancy Jane Dempsey was born Feb. 10, 1860, near Gaines post office, east of Clinton, the youngest of nine children of George W. and Sally Barnett Dempsey, all of whom preceded her in death at advanced ages, except a brother who died at 7 years of age and one killed in the Civil War. She grew to young womanhood in the Gaines Community and on Jan. 2, 1876, married John Davis. Two children blessed this union, a son, Marion, now deceased, who some 60 years years ago was an employee of The Clinton Eye, and Mrs. Myrtie Reese of Brownington, who survives. After a short residence at Gaines the family moved to Osceola where Mr. Davis died in 1880. He had served as mail coach driver from Clinton to Warsaw and from Osceola toWarsaw. In 1882 she married Joseph N. Perrin of Osceola, and they made their home there until moving to Brownington in 1891. Four children were born to this union, two of whom preceded her in death, George in infancy and Denny, who died 14 years ago having also lived in the home, looking after his Mother's welfare. Mr. Perrin died in 1903. Surviving are the son, John of the home; and a daughter, Mrs. Bert Hendrix, Brownington. Early in life Mrs. Perrin united with the Presbyterian Church at Gaines. She was a devoted wife and Mother, always very fond of children, and through the years at various times took into; her home many young folks, relatives and friends, to reside with her until they were permanently settled in life. Warm hospitality reigned in her household, and visitors gave her great pleasure. A hobby was piecing quilts of which she had made many. At the age of 86 she and her daughter, Mrs. Reece had pieced four which Mrs. Perrin then quilted in expert fashion. Surviving, besides her son and two daughters before mentioned, are 12 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Three grandchildren and one great-grandchild preceded her in death.
PETERMAN, James Allen 1926-2007 Green Lawn Cemetery, Rich Hill, Bates Co, MO Nevada Daily Mail, Nevada, MO, Wednesday, May 30 2007 James Allen Peterman was born Oct. 12, 1926, in Rich Hill, Mo., to Charles and Josephine Peterman, and departed this life on May 25, 2007, at the age of 80. He was a lifelong resident of the Rich Hill area. He is survived by his wife, Wanda, of 59 years; son Jerry and wife Bonnie of Lee's Summit, Mo.; son Terry and wife Sara, of Nevada; daughter Sheila and husband Jess Burrous, of Amsterdam, Mo.; son Kevin and wife Nancy, of Nevada; brother Charles and wife Beverly, of Nevada, and half-brother Louis Dungan and wife Linda, of Nevada; four grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. He was an active, lifelong member of St. Bridget's Catholic Church. He served in the United States Army in World War II in the South Pacific and in Europe. He was a proud member of American Legion Post No. 67. Upon discharge he worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad and Special Lens factory in Butler. He retired from 3M in Nevada, after 11 years of service. Jim's favorite pastimes were woodworking and polishing his cars. After retirement, he and Wanda enjoyed camping in Branson and visiting local attractions. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Jonathon Peterman. Mass of Christian Burial was held today, at St. Bridget's Catholic Church. Interment was in Green Lawn Cemetery, Rich Hill, with military rites by Rich Hill American Legion Post No. 67.
PETERMAN, Roy Jr. 1922-2009 Kansas City Star, Kansas City, MO, Jul 26 2009 Roy Peterman, Jr., 87, of Gladstone, Mo., died Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at his home. Private family services. Roy was born Feb. 25, 1922, in Rich Hill, Mo. He retired from Kenworth Dart. He was a member of North Cross United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of Ivanhoe Lodge 446 AF & AM, life member of 32nd degree of the Scottish Rite and the Ararat Shrine Temple of Kansas City, Mo. Roy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Weathers Peterman, of the home; daughter, Karen Maupin and son-in-law Alan; son, Dennis Peterman; and grandchildren, Emily and Gabriel Maupin and Jennifer Peterman. He was born Jan. 11, 1929, in Nevada, Mo., to John Peters and Henrietta Gaines Peters. He was married July 27, 1950 in Florence, Ariz., to Edith Edna Humbard who preceded him in death on July 9, 1994. Mr. Peters was born and raised in this area and spent virtually his entire life here. He graduated from Sheldon High School. He served in the United States Army and was in Korea from 1951 to 1953. He made his living as a farmer, retiring in 1994. Survivors include one daughter, Laura Zimmerman, Raymore, Mo.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse and one son, Gary L. Peters-Strain. Funeral services will be held at Friday, Aug. 24, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will follow at Newton Burial Park in Nevada.

Pettibon, 85, Nevada, Mo., passed away suddenly Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada. She was born Aug. 6, 1922, in Nevada, Mo., to Robert Lee Chrisenbery and Mina Shaw Chrisenbery. She was married June 6, 1963, in Miami, Okla., to Robert Lee Pettibon. He preceded her in death Jan. 22, 2005. Mrs. Pettibon was born and raised in Nevada, and spent her entire life here. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Nevada. She worked for a number of years as a nurse in the Surgery Department at the Nevada City Hospital. She loved her music and played many instruments including the piano, organ, violin and accordion. Survivors include one son, Ronald "Ronny" Overman and his wife Marilyn, Sheldon, Mo.; one daughter, Frances Kay Christy, Nevada; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ena Mae Forkner, Nevada, and Imogene Nall, Belton, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, one daughter, Glenda Overman, three brothers, Kenneth Chrisenbery, Robert Earl Chrisenbery and Richard Chrisenbery, and one sister, Nellie Broughton. Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 17, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will follow at Newton Burial Park in Nevada.

Services were held July 6 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler. Cremation. Mr. Phillips, one of 22 children, was born June 23, 1933 in Judge Hill, Ark., to Roy and Mozel Williams Phillips. He worked at the Shrine Temple in Kansas City, Mo., before his retirement. He moved to the Altona community northeast of Adrian in 1993 where he enjoyed raising his coon dogs and hunting. He leaves his wife Viola of the home; seven sons, Aaron Dewayne Phillips and wife Patsy Ann, Moberly, Mo., Reginald Maurice Phillips, Fredrick Laroy Phillips and fiance Rhonda Hatten, Charles Christopher Phillips and fiance Felinda Hampton, Arthur Ernest Phillips and fiance Tequilla Baskin, Marcus Lanell Phillips and fiance Marchele Harvey, and James L. Phillips, Jr., and wife Patty Ann, all of Kansas City, Mo.; three daughters, Vivian Mellisa Martin and husband Clifford, Dallas, Texas, Regina Mozel Phillips, Kansas City, Mo., and Mary Helen Harper, St. Joseph, Mich.; five brothers, Arthur Lee Phillips of Nebraska, Charles Edward Phillips of Illinois, Lee Alvin Phillips of Hawaii, Kenneth Earl Phillips and Albert Phillips, both of Tennessee; six sisters, Roberta Millbrooks, Kansas City, Mo., Ella Mae Phillips of Tennessee, Maeola Williams and Malverda Ewing, both of Iowa, and Carol Ann Phillips and Sherry Ann Phillips, both of Tennessee; 21 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews and nieces.

PIPES, Alice Beatrice 1854-1914 Altona Cemetery, Altona, Grand River Twp, Bates Co, MO Adrian Journal, Adrian, MO Mrs. A. L. Pipes died at the family home in Shawnee township, Wednesday, December 23, 1914, aged 60 years, 6 months and 14 days. Alice Beatrice Shepherd was born in Hardin county, Ky., June 9th, 1854, and grew to womanhood in the state of her nativity. On February 22nd, 1882, she was united in marriage with Alonzo L. Pipes, who with six children survives. In 1884 Mrs. Pipes united with the Christian Church and remained a consistent member of same until death claimed her. In 1884 the Pipes family moved to Missouri, locating in Clay county, later they moved to Bates county. Mrs. Pipes was an excellent Christian lady, always courteous to those she met, and an accommodating neighbor and friend. She was held in high esteem by all who knew her. The husband and children have the sincere sympathy of a large circle of friends in their irreparable loss. Funeral services will be held some time Saturday, the hour and place has not yet been set. Burial will be made in the Altona cemetery.
PIPES, Hallie Modena 1921-1923 Altona Cemetery, Altona, Grand River Twp, Bates Co, MO Adrian Journal, Adrian, MO, Thursday, Sep 6 1923 DIED FROM STRYCHNINE POISONING - Modina, the two year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Pipes, died Sunday from strychnine poisoning. The child got a box of tablets in the morning and swallowed some of them. Later the parents went to Altona to spend the day with Mrs. Googe. Soon after their arrival at the Googe home the child became violently ill. Dr. Gerald Bates was called but when he arrived the poison had progressed so far that the antidotes given were of no avail and death came soon after the Doctor's arrival. This unfortunate affair came as a great blow to the parents and the community as well, and the parents have the sympathy of their many friends in their hour of great grief. Funeral services for Modina were held Monday afternoon and the body laid to rest in the Altona cemetery.
PIPES, Sarah E. 1849-1909 Butler Daily Democrat, Butler, MO, Jun 7 1909 Mrs. Sarah Pipes, who has long been seriously and hopelessly ill at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Baker, just south of Butler, died Saturday evening at five o'clock. She was the aunt of Lon and J. R. Pipes of this county and is survived by four sons and four daughters. Her illness has puzzled the attending doctors and upon the arrival of her two brothers, Dr. Rice of Excelsior Springs and Dr. Rice of Kearney, Sunday an examination was held to arrive at the cause of death and it was discovered that she had long suffered from cancer of the stomach. Her body was taken to Altona Monday morning where funeral services were held and the remains interred beside the body of her husband who died a year ago.

He was born Oct. 3, 1969, in Nevada. Mo., to Harry Franklin Pitts and Shirley Ann Orr Pitts. Hooch grew up in Bronaugh and graduated from Bronaugh High School, in 1988. He was employed by Rickett's Grain for more than 10 years. He worked for Cullison Ground Works and was currently self-employed in backhoe and dozer work. Survivors include his parents, Harry and Shirley Pitts, of the home; paternal grandmother, Lillie Mac Pitts, Bronaugh, Mo., several aunts, uncles, cousins, and his girl friend, Kim Caldwell, of Golden City, Mo. He was preceded in death by one brother, Chester Dewey "Boo" Pitts, and grandfather, Chester Franklin Pitts. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will follow in Worsley Cemetery, Bronaugh.

PITTS, William Henry 1919-2008 Green Lawn Cemetery, Schell City, Vernon Co, MO El Dorado Sun, El Dorado Springs, MO, Friday, Dec 11 2008 William Henry Pitts, 89, Schell City, the son of Tubal Cain and Ora Adner (Simmons) Pitts, was born Aug. 23, 1919, in Schell City, and passed from this life on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, in the Medicalodge in Nevada. Bill attended school in Schell City and then served in the U.S. Army during WWII in Patton's Army, a member of the 6th Armored Division. After returning from the war, Bill settled in the Kansas City area where he met and married Floe Cushman on June 29, 1948. A housepainter by trade, Bill ran his own business for many years and continued that profession even after relocating back to Schell City in the mid-1990s. It was while living there that he married Ruby Cline. In Bill's spare time, he enjoyed fishing and was always interested in spreading the Word of God to those he came in contact with. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, both wives and one son, Larry Pitts. Survivors include one son, William B. Pitts, Larned, KS; one daughter, Janet Clark, Prairie Village, KS; one stepson, Charles Judd, Kansas City; one stepdaughter, Virginia Stickney, Olathe, KS; one daughter-in-law, Lori Pitts, Bushong, KS; eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Services were Wednesday, Dec. 10, in the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home in Schell City. Interment with military honors were conducted at the Green Lawn Cemetery in Schell City.
PLAIN, Mary Frances 1945-2008 Mary Frances Plain, 62, of Nevada, passed away Friday, June 20, 2008, at Medicalodge Care Center, in Nevada, following a lengthy illness. She was born Nov. 4, 1945, in Independence, Mo., to Frederick M. Plain and Dorothy Frances Hanners Plain. Mary grew up in Independence, Mo., and lived there until 1985. She lived in Kansas, Texas and moved to Nevada approximately five years ago. Survivors include her father and stepmother, Fred and Darlene Plain, of Independence; one son, Roger Wallace, of Independence; three grandchildren, Samantha Wallace, of Independence, Scott Wallace and Brandon Wallace, both of Grain Valley, Mo.; one great-grandson, Kaden Wallace, of Independence; one brother, Arthur Plain, Nevada; and one sister, Cheryl Lebrandt, of Easton, Kan. There are no services planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
PLAIN, Sharon Ann 1948-2008 Sharon Cemetery, Drexel, Cass Co, MO Mullinax Funeral Home Sharon Ann Plain (Owings) was born June 9, 1948 in Kansas City, Mo. She died June 17, 2008. Sharon was raised in Drexel, Mo., attending school and graduating Drexel High School in 1966. She was a member of the Drexel Nazarene Church from 1960 and transferred her membership to the Camdenton Nazarene Church in 1996. She was married in 1970 to Ron Stevenin of LaCygne, Kan., and had two boys: Dustin of Camdenton, Mo., and Scott, of Parker, Kan. They raised their boys in LaCygne, during which time Sharon worked as a cashier at a local grocery mart, Mangolds. She and Ron later divorced, and Sharon moved to Camdenton, Mo., where she worked as a reservations specialist at Tantara Resort for the last 12 years. In September of 2007 she moved back to Parker to spend time with her son Scott. Sharon enjoyed working with flowers and could recognize and name any one she saw; she also enjoyed crocheting and knitting and above all, had a great love for Jesus Christ and her family. Sharon is survived by her sons, Dustin and his wife Alisha of Camdenton, Mo., and Scott of Parker, Kan.; four sisters, Mary Plain of Nevada, Mo., Kathy and her husband Dale Donovan of Iola, Kan., Nancy Richards and her fiance, Richard Derringer of Osawatomie, Kan., and Charlotte and her husband Bill Rommelfanger of Camdenton, Mo. She is also survived by one brother, Arthur Plain of Nevada, Mo., three grandchildren: Brody and Tia Stevenin of Parker, and Katelin Rommelfanger of Camdenton, and 11 nieces and nephews, and many, many friends. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dorothy Owings of Drexel in 1983. A graveside service will be Saturday, June 21, 2008 at Sharon Cemetery, Drexel, Mo.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the Adam Howell Cemetery in Butler, Missouri, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Adrian. Kathryn was born September 19, 1961 in Malin, Oregon. She moved to Butler, Missouri, at a young age. She met Mark Dwaine Plumb when she was working as a waitress. They were married on June 30, 1994 at Park Wedding Chapel in Reno, Nevada by Rev. Gary Setzer. She wrote in her Bible, "The most exciting time we spent together was February 14, 1989, Valentine's Day." They were together from then on. Kathryn and Mark moved to Redding, California to be close to her brother and father. After the loss of her brother and father, they moved back to Missouri. On September 1, 2013, Kathryn and Mark were baptized by Rev. Jason, a Baptist preacher, at Pontiac Cave Resort, out in the river; a happy day for the whole family. Kathryn loved her children and devoted every day to loving and caring for them. For family dinners, she always had to make her special macaroni salad, for it was the best. Mark's brother loved to give Kathryn a hard time and she just dished it right back at him. She would have everyone laughing. As Kathryn got sicker, she still had a smile for everyone and a good word for all. Kathryn would read to her youngest son, Donnie, every night and as she got weaker, Donnie would read to her. Her daughter, Kathleen and her family lived close by so she got to enjoy the grandchildren and have special talks with her daughter. Kathryn was preceded in death by her father, Donald Gene Dobbs and her brother, Donald Gene Dobbs, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Mark, of the home; four sons, Mark Plumb, Jr., Butler, Missouri, Nickolas Gene Plumb, Adrian, Dakota Cheyenne Plumb, Adrian, Donald Gene Dobbs Plumb, Adrian; two daughters, Amanda Jo Plumb, Oklahoma and Kathleen Marie Gilkey (Chuck), Adrian; one brother, Bobby Murray, Butler, Missouri; 5 grandchildren.
POE, Michael James 1976-2009 Cass County Democrat-Missourian, Harrisonville, MO, Friday, Feb 27 2009 Michael James Poe, 32, Garden City, died Feb. 21, 2009, surrounded by his family at Saint Luke's-East in Lee's Summit. He was born July 2, 1976, in Kansas City, the son of Danny Ray and Mary Ann (Brown) Poe. He graduated from Raytown High School. Oct. 25, 2002, he married Marcey in Independence. Mr. Poe worked for Mobility First until his illness forced him to quit. He spent many Wednesday evenings with his dad and brothers, racing his Henry J at KCIR drag strip. He loved cars. Preceding him in death were his father, Danny Poe, on April 8, 2007; and his maternal grandparents, Vernon and Helen Brown.Surviving are his wife, Marcey, and his precious son, Luke Poe, of the home; his stepson, Jeffrey Morton, Raytown; his mother, Mary Ann Poe, Garden City; his brothers, Daniel Poe, Harrisonville, Thomas Poe, Garden City, and Andrew Poe, Independence; his paternal grandparents, Ray and Mary Poe, Warsaw; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins that adored him. Mr. Poe was kind and loving and strong and brave to the end. Services were Feb. 26 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Latour.

POLTER, Marion Robert 1924-2008 Sharon Cemetery, Drexel, Cass Co, MO Mullinax Funeral Home Marion Robert Polter, 84, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008 at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, Mo. Marion was born on September 26, 1924, in Independence, Mo. Growing up, he lived in Boicourt, Kan, Peculiar, Lisle and Drexel, Mo. He made his home in Prairie Village, Kan. For the past year, Marion lived at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg where he received excellent love and care. Marion served honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the USS Winged Arrow (AP-170). After the war, Marion dairy farmed for several years on his farm south of Drexel on State Line Road. He married Donna Melchert on December 16, 1950, and became a licensed barber. Marion barbered in Missouri for 55 years until he retired in 2006 at age 82. He cared a great deal about his fellow barbers and barber customers. Marion was a loving husband and father. He tenderly cared for his wife during the 35 years she suffered with rheumatoid arthritis. Marion was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Donna Melchert Polter; his parents, Deatherre and Amy Polter, and one brother, Raymond Polter. He is survived by two children, Gary and wife, Carol Polter, Overland Park; Ruth and husband, Donovan Gaffney, New Lancaster, Kansas; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Marion will be greatly missed. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 29 at the Mullinax Chapel in Drexel. Burial will follow in Sharon Cemetery east of Drexel.

He was born in Morgan County, Indiana, June 15th, 1873. He was married to Miss Frances Huckstep March 17, 1864. To this union nine children were born. Four were already on the other shore welcoming his coming. His widow and five children are left to mourn his untimely departure. Three boys, Ben, William and James, two girls, Mrs. Will Hughes and Mrs. Rachel Hughes. He was a soldier in the Union army 4 years, 4 months and 14 days. He moved to Bates county in October, 1871. He joined the Baptist church in 1869. His funeral was conducted at the house Wednesday(?), and his remains were laid to rest in the Howell cemetery.

PORTER, Francis P. "Frank" 1849-1915 Howell Cemetery, Amoret, Elkhart Twp, Bates Co, MO Bates County Democrat, Butler, MO, Mar 18 1915 Charlotte Flashes - Frank Porter was born in Illinois September 15, 1849, and died March 12th, 1915, at his home three miles northeast of Virginia. He came to Missouri in 1870 with his parents and settled near where he died. He has lived in Charlotte township ever since. Two daughters by his first wife, who died a number of years ago and his second wife, two daughters, one son and a stepson survive him. His funeral was preached at the house Sunday and his remains were laid to rest in the Howell cemetery.

Mike was a bright and promising young man. He taught the spring term of school in his home district and had a school engaged for the winter in Oklahoma.

He grew up in Armourdale, Kansas, attending John Fisk Elementary School, Central Jr. High School and Argentine High School. Kenneth worked for over 50 years for Rock Island (Southern Pacific) Railroad. Throughout his lifetime, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and KU basketball fan. He also enjoyed coaching youth sports. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and his wife of 44 years, Doris Jean Poston. He is survived by his son, Kenneth E. Poston and daughter-in-law, Lori Poston, Long Beach, CA; his daughter, Georgia Ann Jones, San Diego, CA; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and his good friend, Shirley Smith.

She was married July 2, 1953, in Butler, Mo.; to Wendell Wayne Praiswater and he preceded her in death in 1985. Mrs. Praiswater was born in Butler, and grew up in a variety of locales. After her marriage, she settled in this area and spent the remainder of her life here. She was a homemaker and a devoted mother. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Nevada. Survivors include two sons, Tim Praiswater and his wife Flo, Rocheport, Mo., Rick Praiswater and his wife Shelia. Nevada; one daughter, Cindy Cartwright and her husband Clifford Jr., Nevada; five grandchildren Mitchell Praiswater, Guifport, Miss., Brian Praiswater and Mathew Praiswatcr, both of Rocheport, Mo., Josh Praiswater and Lacy Praiswater, both of Nevada; two great-grandchildren, Garret Praiswater and Logan Praiswater, both of Gulfport, Miss.; two sisters, Joyce Blackmore, Kansas City, Kan., Barbara Ketterrnan, El Dorado Springs, Mo.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and a host of friends. She was born Nov. 8, 1951, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Jack A. Coonrod and Jessie Geraldine Parker Coonrod. Carol grew up and lived in the Bronaugh and Nevada area most of her life. She graduated from Bronaugh High School in 1969 as Valedictorian, Carol was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church. Garland, Kan. Survivors include her husband and companion of 29 years, Delbert L. She was preceded in death by her father in 1982. Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 21, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada.

PRYOR, Margery B. RINEHART 1923-2006 Nevada Daily Mail, Nevada, MO, Tuesday, Aug 15 2006 Margery B. (Rinehart) Pryor, 83, of Praire Village, Kan., formerly of Higginsville, Mo., passed away Friday, Aug. 11, 2006, at Arbors Woods of Overland Park. Margery was born July 13, 1923, in Vernon County, Mo., to Loren and Faye (Cline) Rinehart. She retired as a clerk with the Internal Revenue Services after 18 years of service. She was a member of the Women's Club of Odessa, Mo., and the Battlefield Piecemakers Quilt Guild of Lexington, Mo. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Doyle and Alison Pryor of New York, N.Y.; a daughter and son-in-law, Gayla and Jon Voss of Prairie Village, Kan.; sister, Maxine Robertson of Richards, Mo.; four grandsons, Matthew Pryor and his wife Christine Kosirog of Lawrence, Kan., Christopher Pryor of Portland, Ore., Geoffrey and Gregory Voss both of Prairie Village; and two great-grandchildren, Lilly and Elliott Pryor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon F. Pryor in 2003. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 16, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons, Floral Hills Chapel. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

PULLIAM, Aubrey Lloyd 1915-2008 Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, Deer Creek Twp, Bates Co, MO Atkinson Funeral Home Aubrey Lloyd Pulliam, 92, of Lee's Summit, Missouri, died Friday, May 9, 2008 at the Pleasant Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Funeral services Monday, May 12, 2008 at the Atkinson Chapel, Adrian, MO. Burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian. Aubrey was born August 10, 1915, near Adrian, Missouri, the son of James Simeon and Ethel (Roberts) Pulliam. In his youth he joined the Adrian Methodist Church. Aubrey attended Mingo School and completed eighth grade at this rural school in Bates County. He graduated from Adrian High School in 1932, where he was a member of Future Farmers of America. He received the American Farmer Degree from FFA in 1934 at its seventh convention in Kansas City. Aubrey graduated from the University of Missouri in 1938 with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in agriculture. In 1949, he received a Masters of Arts degree in social science from the University Of Illinois. His Doctor of Education degree was earned in 1956 from Michigan State University with a major in social foundations of education and a minor in anthropology and sociology. Aubrey also studied social sciences at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark and did post-doctoral study in anthropology at the University of Oregon. In 1938, Aubrey took a job with Equitable Life Assurance Society and lived in Iowa. He was drafted into the Armed Forces in April 1945 and served in the Air Force. He was honorably discharged in December, 1945 at the close of WW II. In March of 1946, he took a position with the Oregon State Agricultural Extension Service at Oregon State University. In 1947, he became a County Extension Agent in Linn County, Oregon. Aubrey taught at Knox College, MacMurray College, Eastern Illinois University, Defiance College and at California State Polytechnic College. In the 1970's, Aubrey came back to his roots in Adrian, Missouri, to operate the family farm, and in the 1990's, he moved to Columbia, Missouri, and in 2007 back to western Missouri. Aubrey loved to read, study and write. He enjoyed MU football and basketball. Aubrey was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ethel Pulliam. He is survived by a sister, Mildred Otto; a nephew, James C. Otto and wife, Evelyn; great-nephew, Brian Otto and wife, Jessica; great-niece, Carla Thomas and husband, Jonathan; great-great-nephews, Joseph and Braeden Thomas and great-great-niece, Makayla Otto.
